Police searching for driver after chase near UK campus

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are looking for a driver who crashed a stolen car into a light pole on the UK campus early Tuesday morning.

According to UK police it began around 1am on Rose Street when a University of Kentucky police officer spotted a vehicle that had recently been reported stolen.

When the officer tried to stop the vehicle, police say it took off onto Columbia.

Witnesses say they saw UK police chasing the car when it crashed into a pole near the intersection of Woodland and Columbia.

Police say the driver, Ra'sheen Culpepper, fled on foot from the scene.

Two passengers in the vehicle, Oshea George and Thomas Brown, were arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property.

UK Police say they're still searching for Culpepper.

No injuries were reported.
