Push for smoke-free Kentucky workplaces continues

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - The push to ban smoking in Kentucky workplaces continues.

The Smoke-Free Kentucky Coalition met Wednesday in Frankfort, calling on lawmakers to join 24 other states the prohibit smoking indoors.

Several Kentucky cities already have eliminated secondhand smoke in public places, and in the workplace.

Governor Steve Beshear says it's time for the whole state to adopt a ban.

"Our collective health in horrendous. Smoking is a big cause of that," he commented Wednesday.

There are bills in both chambers eliminating secondhand smoke from indoor areas.
