GREENUP, Ky. (AP) - Residents in one northeastern Kentucky city are worried that someone is stealing their canines.
A recent rash of missing dogs in Greenup County has neighbors hoping law enforcement can solve the mystery of the purloined pooches. Residents reported at least seven dogs having vanished in August and September.
Surina Dicorte of Greenup told The Independent the family is heartbroken over the loss of their 8-year-old terrier/German shepherd mix named Charlie.
Greenup County Sheriff Keith Cooper said last week his office was unaware the rash of missing pets, but would look into it. But first, Cooper says, people have to file reports about the missing animals.
He said the county has faced the issue in the past, but not for several years.
