Richmond gas station attack caught on camera

RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - The owner of a gas station says he caught two people stealing candy and honey buns and when he confronted them he was attacked.

The man and woman involved can be seen on surveillance video entering the A&F Food Mart on Sunday. Owner Ahmad Allatifeh says they were in the store for some time without purchasing anything. In the video you can see the man taking candy. Later he hovers near some honey buns reaching into the box.

Allatifeh says the pair left without paying for the snacks so he followed them outside.

"I told them 'Why don't you didn't even ask? Maybe I give you something to eat,'" Allatifeh said.

He says that's when the woman attacked him.

"She said 'Go back to your country!' with the 'F' word many times, when I look at her she hit me in my face," he said.

On the video you can see that punch send Allatifeh's glasses flying, then he grabs the woman and throws her to the ground. He told her he was calling the police and went inside.

She eventually gets up and leaves, but not before screaming at the man police charged her with stealing from.

"They hurt me because she says 'Go back to your country,' I'm legal here," he said.

Richmond police say the woman that hit Allatifeh is 26-year-old Jenny Rogg and the man seen taking the candy is 35-year-old Paul Mays. Both were arrested within an hour of the attack.

Rogg is charged with first degree robbery and terroristic threatening, Mays was allso charged with first degree robbery. He also had a probation and parole warrant that police served.
