Road crews clear Lexington roads

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Four inches of snow fell in Lexington, and that made the morning commute a mess.

"We're seeing some progress on our major roads, on turn lanes like Harrodsburg Road and Nicholasville Road," explained Rob Allen with Lexington Streets & Roads, "we're seeing slush now versus streets that are a complete sheet of ice and hopefully we'll get the majority of this plowed off tonight before the temperatures dip and we get some refreezing."

Allen is keeping crews out Monday night to continually monitor conditions. He's asking drivers to have patience with the snow plows, and to use caution driving overnight.

"Folks need to remember just because a road looks clear especially when the sun goes down, you could have black ice and now's not the time to speed," said Allen.
