Robbery ignites police chase in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Just before 3:00 p.m. on Friday someone robbed the PNC Bank on New Circle Road.

A man wearing a gray hoodie, glasses and a hat made off with cash.

Police say that the suspect slipped the teller a note saying that he had a gun and wanted money. The suspect never pulled a gun, according to police, but the teller complied.

The suspect took off in what was believed to be a tan Honda Civic, or a similar model sedan.

Police started chasing a similar car and approximately nine police cars surrounded and ended up stopping a car on the New Circle off-ramp to Richmond Road.

Police questioned that suspect, who matched the description and even had a gray hoodie in his car, but that suspect was then cleared.

Police are still searching for the robbery suspect. Police say that he could be armed and may be willing to do it again.

Officials are reviewing surveillance footage.
