Roots & Heritage Festival opens today

LEXINGTON (WKYT) The Roots & Heritage Festival has been named one of the top ten festivals in the state by the Kentucky Tourism Council, and this weekend marks its 25th year celebrating diversity in Lexington.

The festivities include a parade honoring African-Americans of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Division of Police.

Musical performances are also on the calendar. Headliners include the Dazz Band and Glenn Jones.

The Heritage Parade is Saturday, featuring the Bryan Station High School Marching Band.

The festival begins today and runs until Sunday. During that time, Elm Tree Lane will be closed between Short St. and Fourth St. Streets that intersect Elm Tree will also be closed.
