RUSSELL SPRINGS, Ky. (WKYT) - Elizabeth Roberts says ever since her sister was killed, her family and community has seen a lot happen.
“And so I think when tragedies hit, God is good even in tragedy. God will bring good in the long run,” said Roberts.
One example of that good is what hundreds, possibly thousands of people will do this Saturday in Russell County.
They will take to the streets in a 4 mile race…and one a half mile fun run….all proceeds helping some future college students with their tuition expenses.
“It is something I think Sarah would want us to do. She would have loved helping people pursue something people would have had difficulty doing,” said Roberts.
Roberts was killed in June 2012 during an early morning jog. Police arrested Christopher Allman in the crime. He’s currently scheduled for a jury trial next spring. Hart was pregnant with what would have been her 4th child.
“She was the glue to our family. She held us together. So we miss her,” said Roberts.
But events like the “Run with all your Hart” show that even in death….new beginnings can be given to others.
“We’ve given out scholarships to 4 different individuals. That is the most fun, being able to give the money away,” she said.
Children’s activities and concessions will also be sold and the event will be kicked off Friday night with a concert by Christian artist Mark Shultz. You can get more information by going to the Run With all Your Hart Facebook page found here:
