LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (WKYT) - The search is on for two people after a home invasion robbery in Anderson County.
It happened around 11 a.m. on Friday at a home on Jean Drive in Lawrenceburg.
Police tell us two men walked in the back door of Rena Reed's home, then forced her to go room to room, demanding pills.
After they took her stash of prescription medication, Reed says they started eyeing her rings.
"He took my engagement ring and my wedding band," Reed said of one of the robbers.
The rings had been on Reed's fingers for 56 years, put there first by her late husband.
"I can't replace those," Reed said. "These people (the robbers) just simply, they don't care."
Police say the robbers also stole money from Reed. She was taken to a hospital to be checked out, but she was not seriously injured.
Shortly after the robbery, a nearby sheriff's deputy stopped a suspicious car just a few streets from the victim's home and two men inside jumped out and took off.
Police tell us the female driver told them the two men were hitchhikers and she did not know them.
Police searched a wooded area near Carlton Drive and US 127 business for several hours Friday. Lawrenceburg Police say they aren't positive the men in the car were the same men who robbed Reed.
As of 11 p.m. Friday, Lawrenceburg Police had not made any arrests in the case.
