MENIFEE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The Menifee County Search and Rescue were out at the Red River Gorge early Friday morning after a sheriff's deputy reported an abandoned vehicle.
At around 5am Friday morning a Menifee County Sheriff's deputy was patrolling the Suspension Bridge parking lot near Sheltowee Trace Trail when he spotted what he thought was an abandoned vehicle with the back doors wide open.
The deputy called in for search and rescue who tell WKYT that they dispatched for a 'hasty search' at daylight to try and locate the owner of the vehicle.
Not far from the parking lot officials located a small campsite near the river where the vehicles owner and occupants were camping.
When questioned by officials it was determined that the owners had not locked their doors and they believed someone had broken into the vehicle, leaving the doors open.
