Woman inside Whitley County home when storm blows tree on it

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Storms caused a lot of damage in Whitley County.

A large tree fell on a home along Seventh Street near Cumberland Falls Highway, in Corbin. The home was in the process of being renovated. The woman inside says it happened quickly Tuesday night. As soon as the storm started around seven, the tree fell down on the house.

Kendra Igo was inside at the time. She says it was so loud that she didn't know what happened. She says she was devastated when she saw the damage.

"The back two bedrooms were completely caved in. It was destroyed. "

The family will stay with relatives until the tree is removed.

Just across the street, a tree fell on an elderly woman's outbuilding, destroying it.

Emergency managers also reported power outages throughout the county.

The damage spread to Woodbine, tearing the roof off the fire station. Chief Rick Fore says it created a hole more than 20-feet in size.
