LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -
Folks, you probably shouldn't try this stunt at home or in downtown Lexington. There are obvious dangers with base jumping and there is the likelihood of going to jail. That is how Saturday night ended for 32-year-old, David Kaiser and 31-year-old, Joshua McCluskey.
Surveillance video from the 5/3 building captures the two thrill seekers soaring over Main Street with parachutes before landing in the CenterPointe property.
"I guess maybe if you're a stupid 20-something-year old guy. That might be worth it then. That's a pretty good story for later. Does it work if they're in their 30s? Maybe not as much then," says Samantha Castro, a Lexington resident.
"I ain't trying to lose my life over jumping off the top of a building," says Lexington resident, Denzel Manning.
"That sounds kind of fun, definitely," says another Lexington resident.
After talking to many people, they weren't necessarily shocked about the jump itself but they were surprised about which building these thrill seekers chose.
"It's an adventure but they should try this 5/3 building rather than the short building. If they're going to jump than should do something fundamental," says another Lexington resident.
"They were adventurous. That is one of the higher buildings but I guess they didn't become very adventurous because they didn't go to the blue building," says Soumi Basu, a Lexington resident.
Their aerial adventure ended safely but they were quickly greeted by the police upon landing and taken to jail for criminal trespassing.
Police say the two men were wearing "Go-Pro" cameras during the jump. The cameras are now part of police evidence and they are not being released to the media at this time.
