Suspect, two officers injured in early morning pursuit

DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - A suspect and two police officers were transported to the hospital following an accident early Saturday morning in Boyle County.

Danville police say they were called out to the Walmart just after 5 a.m. for a male suspect shoplifting alcohol and other items. The suspect, 26-year-old Kenneth D. Norman, was then spotted leaving the scene.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle on Hustonville Road and tried to pull Norman over. Police say he took off once they turned on their lights and he lost control as he was taking a curve, striking a fence, going over the embankment and into a creek.

Officials say the initial officer stopped on the bridge and was struck in the rear by the secondary officer.

Norman was transported to University of Kentucky Hospital with a broken arm and other injuries. He is currently in fair condition.

Norman's sister, Jennifer Foster, says the car he was driving belonged to her. She says he stole it while she was sleeping.

"It's a nightmare, it's horrible, my car is totaled, my brother's in the hospital," Foster said. "I love him to death, I don't want to press charges but that's my car, I'm going to have to deal with a lot of stuff he's not going to have to deal with."

Both officers were transported to the hospital by ambulance. Both were treated and released.

Both accidents remain under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
