BEREA, Ky. (WKYT) - A crash in Madison County sends a teenager, a baby and a young child to the hospital.
It happened around 10:00 Friday morning on Battlefield Memorial Highway in Madison County.
People who live near the scene rushed over to help the woman and children inside the car.
18-year-old Chassidy Turpin was driving North on KY-421 when something caused her to lose control.
Charlie Sparks lives near the crash. Sparks says, "She hit that bridge out there, rolled and threw her out of the car."
Witnesses called police telling them they saw a woman laying in the field. Charlie Sparks came upon the overturned car and noticed two children, still strapped in their seat belts and in car seats.
"Definitely was a life saver. If you don't put your kids in a car seat you are dead wrong."
Turpin was airlifted out to UK Hospital. A 7-month-old and a 2-year-old were also taken to UK simply to be checked out.
"They were in the back seat," says Sparks. "They were both strapped in. Not a scratch on them that I could see. They were in good shape."
Witnesses say Turpin's injuries appeared to be quite severe, the children escaped serious harm.
"But I know they are fortunate. The Lord blessed them that's for sure."
The accident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
Witnesses say one of the people who came up on the accident and helped the victims was a nurse.
