UK student, shooting victim now facing drug charges

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - As police continue to look for the person who shot a student near the UK campus, new details are emerging about the investigation.

We've now learned from court documents that police found detailed information of a drug dealing operation being run out of the house on Elizabeth Street where the shots were fired. Now all three people who live in the home face drug charges including the shooting victim.

In the arrest citation, police say the vicitim, Ryan Jennings, a UK senior, asked one of his roommates to hide a Crown Royal bag filled with marijuana before police arrived to investigate. When investigators got to the house, they found much more. They say inside were labeled bags of marijuana, a digital scale, and a book with handwritten prices.

"The way that traffic came in and out of the house, the way that people came in and out of the house was very, sketchy, suspicious," explained neighbor Chris Allen, "for it to be across the street, you know that this kind of stuff happens. You don't ever want it to ever be near you."

Ainsley Murrell, Jenning's roommate, appeared in court Tuesday on drug charges. Jennings, once out of the hospital, will face similar charges. His arraignment is set for November.
