Victim says Richmond crash was result of robbery chase

RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - A man is in the hospital after a crash that may have resulted from a robbery.

The crash happened early Tuesday morning on Lost Fork Road. A passenger car slammed into a pickup truck. The Madison County Sheriff's Office responded to that crash scene. One of the men in the passenger car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Everyone else walked away.

Police have not released much information on what happened, but the wife of a man who was involved in the crash contacted WKYT. She says her husband was hit by two men, chasing after a thief who allegedly robbed them at gunpoint. She says the robbery happened near the Redi Mart on Red House Road.

She says her husband was driving down Lost Fork Road when a car sped by, narrowly avoiding him. But shortly after, another passenger car, with the victims of the alleged robbery inside, crashed into him, totaling his pickup. Police would not confirm those details, or confirm that they were investigating a robbery.

The manager of the Redi Mart did tell WKYT that the robbery did not happen inside the store.
