Three bodies recovered from submerged vehicle in Nelson County

NELSON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYTWYMT) - Nelson County Emergency Management is reporting that 3 bodies have been recovered from a submerged vehicle in the Rolling Fork River.

A call came in for a water rescue in Nelson County on Sunday morning.

Officials say 5 people were in the vehicle when it drove into high water on Deehead Road near Walter Hall Road just outside of Bardstown.

According to officials with Kentucky Emergency Management 2 people left the vehicle immediately and went for help. When they arrived back on the scene the vehicle had been swept down the river and was submerged with the three other occupants still inside.

Officials attempted to recover the vehicle but had to call in for a large piece of equipment to pull it out.

The coroner is currently on the scene no identifications have been released at this time.
