Wife shot in Rockcastle Co. attempted murder-suicide

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are investigating an attempted murder-suicide case in Rockcastle County.

The shooting happened on Redhill Road in the Livingston community around 7:30 Monday morning.

The Rockcastle County coroner tells WKYT that a man shot his wife, and then turned the gun on himself. Police found Roger Baker's body in the woods. Rhonda Baker was taken to UK Hospital. She is expected to live.

We're told Rhonda Baker is an educator at Mount Vernon Elementary School and she is a city commissioner in Livingston.

"When we found out it was Rhonda, it was pretty heartbreaking," said Livingston Mayor Jason Medley.

Police say the couple got into an argument prior to the gunshots. Rhonda's family adds that they've had several fights before this last one.

"That family is in our prayers," Medley said.

At last check, Rhonda Baker is fair condition.
