Heavy snow continues to fall across southeastern Kentucky. This snow will increase overnight and that could cause issues for the counties closest to Virginia.
Snowfall totals of 6"-10" will be likely along the Virginia border. Amounts up to 6" will be possible as far north as Hazard and Hindman. This could be enough to cause some power hits at times.
A major winter storm continues to impact much of the eastern half of the country. This storm is bringing accumulating snows to the southeastern part of Kentucky. This area is under a Winter Storm Warning and a Winter Weather Advisory. Travel across the southeast is likely to go downhill by late this evening.
The counties closest to Virginia look to get hit the hardest with up to a half foot of snow. Snow totals will taper off quickly to the north and west. It looks like most of central Kentucky will miss out on much of the action.
The next snow maker rolls in by Valentine's Day and this could bring accumulations to much of the region. That will be followed up by another light snow maker for Saturday night.
If you're looking for milder temps... you will like the forecast I have for next week. A few days in the 50s appear likely.
