Woman, dog attacked by pit bulls on Lexington street

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A woman and her dog are recovering after she says they were attacked by pit bulls.

The victim tells WKYT that she was carrying out her daily routine, taking her small dog for a walk when the attack happened.

Stacey Earley says she was walking down W. 5th when two pit bulls, who were not leashed, crossed the street and attacked her and her dog.

"We turned to kinda go in the other direction, and they just ran across the street. The bigger one latched onto his face," said Earley.

A neighbor, who saw what was happening, got his shotgun and fired several shots into the air, scaring away the stray dogs.

Earley and her dog, Goblin, suffered minor injuries in the attack.

The pit bulls are still on the loose. Police went to a home where they thought the dogs belonged, but no one answered.
