Senator Barack Obama Makes Stop In Kentucky Save Email Print

Voters in nearby West Virginia go to the polls in just a few hours and the Kentucky primary is just one week away.

Hillary Clinton is hoping for big wins in both states to keep her presidential bid alive.

Her opponent, Barack Obama, made his first stop in the Bluegrass this year in Louisville.

This was Senator Barack Obama's first stop in Kentucky since August.

A recent poll shows Obama trailing Senator Hillary Clinton by double digits and even people in his own campaign believe his chances of winning are slim in Kentucky and West Virginia.

Thousands of people cheered in Louisville welcoming Senator Barack Obama to the commonwealth, where he promised to improve healthcare and end the war in Iraq.

Obama says a change in the White House is what the county needs.

Obama's opponent, Senator Hillary Clinton, has spent more time in the bluegrass state recently.

Her daughter Chelsea was in Kentucky Monday supporting her mother's campaign in Ashland and other towns.

Chelsea Clinton says her mother will also bring better healthcare and more jobs to Americans.

Though Obama and Clinton disagree on some issues, Obama says it's nothing compared to the differences with the presumed republican nominee John McCain.

No other campaign stops are scheduled in Kentucky right now for Clinton or Obama before the primary... which is one week from Tuesday.

Kentucky's Superdelegates are split on the race.

One of them, Governor Steve Beshear, hasn't endorsed anyone yet.

Lt. Governor Daniel Mongiardo, who's not a Superdelegate, endorsed Obama over the weekend.

How do you explain Senator Obama's double-digit victories in overwhelmingly white states like Iowa (8 points over Clinton), Alaska (51 points), Colorado (34 points), Delaware (11 points), Idaho (62 points), Kansas (48 points), Minnesota (34 points), North Dakota (25 points) and Utah (18 points)?

Wow, now I know why Hillary gets all the dummies to vote for her. do you like your relatives dying in that war SHE voted for and Obama opposed? She has no judgment,no scruples,no substance. She folds to the republicans at all times. She LIED about sniper fire, lied about Nafta. When are you people going to wake up? You've lost your jobs, your homes, your cars because of the Clintons and the Bushes. GEESH Do we have to hit you over the head? Thank God for the educated and the young in this country, we are ALL voting for Obama!!!

As I look and listen to Barack Obama I feel the genius of his intelligence, integrity, honesty, compassion, passion, constitutionality and respect for each and every human being. I sense his judgement for humanity and his Christian values as well. I believe that he is genuine in his desire to work with all people reguardless of their political affiliation. God Bless You Mr.Barack Obama, you make proud to be an American and a citizen of these United States of America.

I guess obama gave up in West Virginia? but did Hillary give up in North Carolina becasue she was going to loose? Did she give up in Indiana becasue she thought she was going to loose? No she worked her little heart out and that is what we need in the White House, someone that will not give up when the going gets tough..Delegates, People..Obama today proved that he is not a person that will give his all to the American People..the going is tough in West Virginia so he just gives upl...However I did not see him give up his Radical RAcist Anti-American Mentor of Twenty year! and when he finaly did it was for self serving political gain.. So how does it make him more electable..not to me. So for the first time in my life time of $50 years I will be voting republican, at least I know McCain will not give up when nthe going gets touch..He proved it!

How about this, Terri. Why don't we focus on getting someone into office that has experience, integrity, leadership skills, and the backbone to occasionally cross the aisle when it comes to doing the right thing. Of the three candidates in the race, only John McCain can make that claim. He is not an empty suit who has passed only ONE bill in 3 years. He is not an inexperienced Senator who has only been in office 3 years, and spent the better part of them running for President. He is NOT all style, no substance. He is NOT a blatant liar about dodging sniper bullets in Bosnia. He is NOT the spouse of a former President who narrowly escaped impeachment. He is, on the other hand, someone who has foreign policy experience, a social conscience (he co-sponsored the Americans with Disabilities Act, for example), and the backbone to tell it like it is. That's what I want, that's what WE need. Enough with the pandering, just do what's right. John McCain will do that.

With the Democrat big-wigs making unbelieveably stupid remarks such as Beshear alluding to Cheney taking Bush hunting, and Chandler calling McCain "John Insane", I'm betting that Obama won't touch this state with a 10 foot pole soon. The Democrats have demonstrated such vile and personal attacks on the Republicans, that it is disgraceful. I'm ashamed at this point in time, to call myself a Kentuckian, with elected representatives like Beshear and Chandler making those kinds of remarks. I remember the old stump speeches where candidates would scorch other candidates, but the level of "vileness" (for want of a better term) shown by these two men show a complete lack of respect for fellow humans, an arrogance of office in a Democrat controlled state, and quite frankly, a lack of spine and moral courage. True leaders never stoop to such measures. As far as I'm concerned, Beshear and Chandler don't deserve the honor of being a public servant.
