State officials announced today the Kentucky Clean Energy Corps Pilot Program which will help weatherize 100 low-income households in Lexington.
Officials plan to spend 77-million dollars in federal economic stimulus money to make the "green" change. It's in an effort to financially help those struggling to pay heating costs as well as to reduce the carbon footprint as a city.
Mayor Jim Newberry, says, "It benefits the homeowner and helps them save money and the city gets an opportunity to improve the environment."
Organizers predict they will also be able to create as many as 3300 jobs with the program. Officials plan to take the program state-wide and "weatherize" as many as 10,000 homes across Kentucky.

This money should go toward nursing all of the sick animals confiscated from an Adair animal shelter back to health. At least then it would be going to a good use. There is probably enough money here to help the shelters who took them all in. Not to mention spay and nueter clinics throughout the region. I would rather my tax dollars go toward this than another low income person trying to over-populate the world for monetary gains.

Soon to be mandatory, and at your own expense.

Just what we need. Another program to help the welfare people out. They need to get a job and help themselves. I am tired of my tax dollars going for programs to benefit the so called "low income people".
