One Lexington man is converting used vegetable oil from Doodles restaurant to a bio-fuel that he can run his diesel van on.
Josh Short added a bio-diesel converter to his van that can successfully filter the used vegetable oil. He can drive his van on this bio-fuel for nearly 1500 miles and can get 18 miles to the gallon.
Lillie Ruschell, General Manager of Doodles, says, "It's a win-win situation. Instead of paying someone to dispose of our oil, Josh is taking it and turning it into something beneficial for the restaurant and for the environment."
Bio-diesel converter kits are readily available to purchase online.
