Hard Spun turns tables on Derby winner

FLORENCE, Ky. (AP) - Hard Spun finally got the best of Kentucky
Derby winner Street Sense. The runner-up to Street Sense in the
Derby held off the colt down the stretch to win today's Kentucky
Cup Classic at Turfway Park.
Jockey Mario Pino led Hard Spun to the front early, just like he
did in the Derby. This time, though, Street Sense and jockey Calvin
Borel weren't able to reel them in down the stretch.
Hard Spun eased away in deep stretch, coming under the wire one
and a quarter length ahead of Street Sense. Stream Cat was third
and Cat Shaker was fourth in the four-horse field.
Hard Spun covered the mile and an eighth in 1 minute 48 seconds.
The two could meet again at the Breeders Cup Classic next
