EKU's Holland National Player of the Week

CHICAGO – After picking up OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sunday, Eastern Kentucky University quarterback Allan Holland was named one of five national players of the week for the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) by the College Sporting News.

Holland, a junior from Hazard, Ky., threw for a career-high and OVC season-best 321 yards against Eastern Illinois on Saturday. He completed 68.2 percent (30-of-44) of his pass attempts for two scores and no interceptions. Holland’s second touchdown pass, a 47-yard strike, put the Colonels up by 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Holland has not thrown an interception in five starts this year, helping the Colonels pick up their first national ranking of 2007 (23rd).
Towson University quarterback Sean Schaefer, Nicholls State defensive backs Ladarius Webb and Kareem Moore, and Georgia Southern University placekicker Jesse Hartley were the other national players of the week for the week ending Oct. 7, 2007.

#23 Eastern Kentucky (4-2, 3-0 OVC) will next host Southeast Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 13, as part of Hall of Fame Weekend. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
