LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A prominent French thoroughbred trainer has reached a settlement with Kentucky racing authorities. It will bar him from racing anywhere for six months instead of a year. In exchange, Patrick Biancone will drop any appeal of his case that involved medication violations.

Biancone also will not work as a trainer for an additional six months, but he may go to the races, as long as he stays in public areas.

Although the suspension does not begin until November first, Biancone has agreed to not appear at the Breeders' Cup Championships October 26th and 27th at Monmouth Park in New Jersey. Seven horses are pre-entered in his name for eight races, but Biancone will withdraw as trainer of record. However, the agreement does not prohibit Biancone from receiving prize money from the championships.
