OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) - "Lawyer Ron" is the early favorite over Kentucky Derby winner "Street Sense" for Saturday's 5-million-dollar Breeders' Cup Classic.
Lawyer Ron was a runaway winner in the Whitney Handicap and the Woodward Stakes before finishing second to Curlin in the Jockey Club Gold Cup in his last start. Street Sense also won the Jim Dandy and the Travers and was second to Hard Spun in the Kentucky Cup Classic.
A nine-horse field has been entered for the mile-and-a-quarter Classic. Four-year-old Lawyer Ron is the 5-2 choice with 3-year-olds Street Sense and Curlin the co-second picks at 3-1.
