Woodson a finalist for Davey O'Brien Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – André Woodson has been named a semifinalist for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award as announced Monday.

Woodson is one of 15 semifinalists for the honor, which is sponsored by the Davey O’Brien Foundation of Fort Worth, Texas.

Woodson has completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 2,431 yards, 28 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions this year. He leads the Southeastern Conference with 270.1 passing yards per game. Earlier this season, he set an NCAA record with 325 consecutive passes without an interception. He has won three National Player of the Week honors this year, following victories over Louisville, Florida Atlantic, and LSU.

Woodson has led Kentucky to a 6-3 record. The Wildcats’ win over Louisville was the first victory over a top-10 ranked opponent in 30 years and the triumph over LSU was the first over a No. 1-ranked opponent since 1964. During the season, UK has been ranked in the nation’s top 10 for the first time since 1977.
