LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky honors its 1958 national championship basketball team, and the team it faced in the finals that year, Saturday night when the Wildcats host Seattle in an exhibition game.

Adolph Rupp’s “Fiddling Five,” led by Vernon Hatton’s 30 points and Johnny Cox’s 24 defeated Seattle, 84-72, at Louisville’s Freedom Hall to win the 1958 NCAA title. Team members expected to attend this weekend’s reunion include Earl Adkins, Ed Beck, Cox, John Crigler, Hatton, Phil Johnson, Don Mills, Harold Ross, Adrian Smith and Bill Smith.

After a private reception Friday night, team members will conduct an autograph session Saturday at 6 p.m., at the UK Basketball Museum. Beginning at 4:30 p.m. the first 100 fans at the Museum entrance will receive a voucher for admittance into the autograph session (one ticket per person, one item per person).

Players from both the 1958 UK and Seattle teams will be recognized at halftime of Saturday night’s game.
