LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Patrick Patterson kept college basketball coaches across the country in the dark while he was deciding where to attend school.
Since the Huntington (W.Va.) native picked Kentucky, the spotlight has been on him, and that suits him fine.
Patterson says it feels good to know that everybody knows him and wants to see what he can do.
With a guard-heavy team surrounding him, the blue-chip power forward will likely be counted on immediately as the Wildcats' primary scorer in the post.
Wildcats' coach Billy Gillispie is also counting on Patterson to be one of Kentucky's primary shot-blockers.
The 6-foot-8 freshman led Huntington High School to three straight state championships, the last alongside Southern Cal recruit O.J. Mayo.
