Crawford may not play against Vandy

The basketball Wildcats open conference play this weekend, when Vanderbilt comes to Rupp Arena. The Commodores opened the season undefeated, winning their first 15 games, a school record.

UK might be without one of its leading scorers. On his weekly radio show, coach Billy Gillispie said guard Joe Crawford is suffering from plantar fasciitis, inflammation of the tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot.

Gillispie said Crawford practiced Wednesday, but the injury flared up, causing the senior some pain.

The coach also said guards Jodie Meeks and Derrick Jasper are still nursing injuries. Meeks didn't practice Wednesday and Jasper, while still recovering from offseason knee surgery, now has a bad toe. Gillispie said Jasper could barely walk through practice.
