In the girls’ draw, it promises to be a jam-packed Diddle Arena on Thursday night, when teams from around Central Kentucky take the floor. At 6:30, the 8th Region champs take on winners of the 4th Region, followed by the 11th Region hooking up with the champions of the 10th Region.
The Houchens Industries Girls’ Sweet 16 will be played on the Western Kentucky University campus, March 12-15.
On the boys’ side, the upper half of the bracket appears to be loaded with good teams and talented players. The 11th Region, arguably the strongest in the state, opens the Boys’ Sweet 16 on Wednesday against the champions of the 2nd Region. Three of the state’s top five teams currently reside in the 11th Region.
The National City Boys Sweet 16 is played at Rupp Arena, March 19-22.
