RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) - Kenneth Faried scored on a putback with 1.8 seconds left to lift Morehead State to a 51-49 win over Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday night.
The Eagles (14-12, 11-7 Ohio Valley Conference) completed a season sweep of the Colonels, handing Eastern (13-13 10-8) its third straight loss. Morehead defeated the Colonels 62-53 on Jan. 10.
Faried put the finishing touches on the team's successful comeback by picking off the Colonels' inbounds pass as time expired. Faried led Morehead with 16 points, while Leon Buchanan followed with 12.
Adam Leonard led Eastern with 14 points and Mike Rose added 12.
The Eagles, who overcame nine lead changes and eight ties, trailed 44-40 with five minutes remaining, but outscored Eastern 9-0 for a 49-44 lead.
Morehead used an 11-1 run that turned a 15-13 deficit into a 24-16 lead with 2:07 left in the opening half, but Eastern scored the last five points of the half to narrow the margin to 24-21 at the break.
The Colonels scored the first nine points of the second half for a 30-24 advantage, before the Eagles used a successful rally to get the win.
