LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Pyro's dominant victory in last month's
Louisiana Derby won't stop a full field from challenging the colt
in Saturday's Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland.
The 12-horse field for the Blue Grass is the largest since 1982.
The 1 1-8 mile race will be one of the final preps for next month's
Pyro will start in the middle at post seven and has been
installed as the early even-money favorite, but will face a deep
field that includes Tampa Derby winner Big Truck, who will start
alongside Pyro in post six.
Big Truck and Visionaire, who will start on the outside at post
12, are the co-second choices, listed at 6-1.
Big Truck trainer Barclay Tagg said he decided to enter his colt
to make sure the horse has enough graded stakes earnings to make
the 20-horse field for the Derby.
