HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Five horses that ran at Oaklawn Park this season are among the top 20 money earners and are in line to qualify for the Kentucky Derby.
Arkansas Derby winner "Gayego" has earned $640 thousand graded stakes, good enough for fifth on the list.
Other horses who raced in Hot Springs and are in the top 20 are Number-nine "Kodiak Cowboy," Number-eleven "Z Fortune," Number-17 "Anak Nakal" and Number-18 "Eight Belles."
Eight Belles, a filly, is to enter both the Kentucky Derby and the Kentucky Oaks. Owner Rick Porter and trainer Larry Jones will decide later which race is right for their horse. Eight Belles' victory in the $250-thousand Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn on April sixth was her fourth straight victory.
