NASHVILLE, Ky. - Morehead State sophomore second baseman/shortstop Drew Lee has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.
Lee had an amazing five games last week, hitting .609 (14-of-23) with seven runs scored, a double, three home runs and 16 runs batted in. The Mt. Sterling, Ky., native (Montgomery County High School) had five multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games.
He began the week with three hits and two RBI in a one-run loss at 17th ranked Kentucky. He had two hits and an RBI against Georgetown College. In the first game of the MSU-UT Martin series, he had three hits, including a home run, and four RBI. In game two against the Skyhawks, he had three hits and two RBI. In Sunday's finale against UTM, he added three hits, including two home runs, and seven RBI. He had a grand slam home run and a two-run shot on Sunday. A switch-hitter, Lee homered from both sides of the plate in the weekend series.
Lee began the season as the Eagle second baseman, but has been filling in at shortstop for injured senior Nick Nail.
The Eagles play at Cincinnati at 6:30 p.m. EDT on Wednesday (April 23).
