Derby favorite works out in Florida

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Kentucky Derby favorite Big Brown put
in a workout at the Palm Meadows training center Thursday, an
effort trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. said "looked real good."

Big Brown, with exercise rider Michele Nevin aboard, worked from
the top of the stretch and ran tight against the rail as he covered
five furlongs in 58 3-5 seconds.

"I can't believe he went that fast," Dutrow said. "He looked
like he was just galloping along when he went past me."

Plans call for Big Brown to be shipped by plane to Louisville on
Monday. A final three-furlong workout at Churchill Down is
scheduled for next Thursday, two days before the Derby.

Big Brown has won all three of his starts, including the Florida
Derby, by a combined 29 lengths.
