New details are out about the death of Eight Belles, the filly who died after crossing the finish line in the Kentucky Derby.

Necropsy results on the thoroughbred were released Thursday afternoon.

The procedure was performed at the livestock disease diagnostic center at the University of Kentucky.

The report shows Eight Belles suffered compound fractures of both front legs at the fetlock joints.

The Kentucky Horse Racing Authority ordered the necropsy.

The report also showed Eight Belles had no pre-existing bone abnormalities or any cardiovascular or pulmonary problems.

Results of the routine post-race drug testing are still pending. That testing is being done at a lab at Iowa State University.
