Kentucky Could Ban Steroids In Racing This Summer

The newly created Kentucky Horse Racing
Commission is preparing to vote this summer on a steroid ban for
the sport.
The commission met briefly Wednesday morning in Lexington to
swear in its new members. Gov. Steve Beshear last week disbanded
the previous Kentucky Horse Racing Authority and replaced it with
the new group.
Commission members said the governor has indicated he wants
swift movement on steroids. About 10 states have approved a ban,
but Kentucky is a notable holdout.
Racing commission executive director Lisa Underwood says she
expects a vote on the issue in August.
