Dakotah Euton and Chad Jackson are one step closer to regaining their eligibilty, after receiving word from the hearing officer who listened to their appeal.

The players transferred from Rose Hill Academy to Scott Co. at the end of last season. Kentucky High School Athletic Assocation commissioner Brigid DeVries ruled that both Euton and Jackson were ineligible to play for the Cards this upcoming season.

Euton and Jackson had their appeals heard earlier this month. On Thursday, the families each received a letter from the hearing officer, who will recommend that the duo be allowed to play for Scott Co.

Officials at the KHSAA say the Board of Control has the final say on the appeal. The Board will review the hearing officer's findings and rule on the player's eligibilty.

That ruling will not be determined until the Board's meeting on August 25.
