Arnika Brown Arrested On 11 Felony Counts

Western Kentucky basketball star Arnika
Brown is facing more than a dozen criminal charges after police say
she used counterfeit money to shop at a store in her southern
Kentucky hometown.
Brown was arrested Saturday and charged with 11 felony counts of possession of a forged instrument and five counts of theft by
deception. Police say the 21-year-old from Hopkinsville admitted
using the counterfeit money to make several purchases. She was
released Saturday on bond.
Christian County deputy Clerk Elisa Yates says Brown is
scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday and Brown did not have an
attorney Monday afternoon.
Brown was named state player of the year by The Associated Press
following her senior season at Hopkinsville in 2006. She was named
Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year at Western Kentucky last
season.
University spokesman Todd Stewart says the school is aware of
Brown's arrest and is handling the matter internally.
