Former Mason Co. quarterback facing EKU

CINCINNATI (AP) - Cincinnati quarterback Dustin Grutza might
understandably have a few butterflies heading into the Bearcats'
season opener against Eastern Kentucky tomorrow night.

It's the biggest game of his college career, and a chance to
show that he can build on the Bearcats' 10-win season last year.
But so far, he's kept those thoughts and emotions in check.
Grutza says he's excited to get the season going, but not really
nervous.

Grutza lost the starting job last season, when newcomer Ben Mauk
overcame his arm and shoulder injuries and led the Bearcats to 10
wins and a No. 17 final ranking -- the best in Cincinnati's
history.

Mauk failed to get another year of eligibility from the NCAA, so
Grutza gets to pick up where Mauk left off. He leads a team that
returns 10 starters on offense.
