Long's FG Sends EKU Past Austin Peay

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) - Taylor Long's 27-yard kick salvaged a 13-10
win for Eastern Kentucky on Saturday after Austin Peay pushed the
Colonels to overtime with a last-second field goal.
The Governors tied it with one second left in regulation on
Isaac Ziolkowski's 43-yard kick and had a chance to take the lead
in overtime.
But Ziolkowski missed wide right from 36 yards, opening the door
for Long and Eastern Kentucky (2-3, 1-1 Ohio Valley Conference).
Eastern Kentucky scored on its first play from scrimmage
following a 62-yard kickoff return by Jeremy Caldwell. Flanker Cody
Watts took a lateral from quarterback Allan Holland and fired a
29-yard scoring strike to flanker Shannon Davis just 16 seconds
into the game to put the Colonels on the way to their 22nd straight
win over the Govs (0-5, 0-2 OVC).
Long added a 27-yard field goal with 3:52 left in the first
Austin Peay kept the game close when it came up with a fumble
recovery by defensive back Jason Vanatta who fell on a C.J. Walker
fumble on the Govs' one-yard line with just over three minutes left
in the first half.
T.C. Jennings put Austin Peay (0-5, 0-2 OVC) on the scoreboard
early in the third quarter with a 37-yard touchdown pass to
wide-open Lanis Frederick.
Holland went 17-for-28 for 211 yards and was intercepted three
times. Senior wideout Stephon Fuqua had six receptions for 104
Jennings was 12-of-23 for 90 yards and a TD for Austin Peay.
Frederick had six catches for the Govs for 97 yards and a score.
