LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville's run through the Big East
didn't go unnoticed by the NCAA tournament selection committee.
The Cardinals (28-5) were awarded the top seed overall in this
year's 65-team field after winning the Big East regular season and
conference tournament titles.
Louisville is the top seed in the Midwest region and will play
either Alabama State or Morehead State in the opening round on
Friday in Dayton, Ohio.
The Cardinals are looking to make their second Final Four
appearance under coach Rick Pitino. Louisville roared to the Final
Four in 2005 before falling to Illinois in the national semifinal.
Louisville enters the tournament on a 10-game winning streak
after suffering a 33-point loss to Notre Dame in mid-February.
