Holmes Defeats Christian County In Boys Sweet 16

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Brothers Ricardo and Jeremiah Johnson
combined for 29 points to lead Holmes to a 72-61 win Thursday over
Christian County in the Boys' Sweet Sixteen State Basketball
Holmes (33-2) was runner-up in last seasons' Sweet Sixteen and
dominated undersized Christian County for most of the afternoon.
The Bulldogs led by as many as 14 to advance to the quarterfinals.
Holmes led 32-26 at halftime but 21 turnovers by the Bulldogs
helped keep the Colonels in the game.
Christian County (21-67), in its 15th state tournament
appearance, came as close as two coming out of halftime, but Holmes
turned on the heat to jump again to a 10-point lead.
Holmes will face Lexington Catholic Friday at 6:30 p.m.
