Kentucky Women Win First Round NIT Game

Despite giving up a 12-point second-half lead, the Kentucky Wildcats edged the Chattanooga Lady Mocs 81-76 in overtime Thursday night in the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament.

UK (16-15) led 53-41 with 11:19 to go in the first half before a furious comeback by the Lady Mocs (22-10).

UTC never took the lead or tied the game up in the second half until UTC's Erin Ogan hit a step-back 3-pointer with 13 seconds left to force the game into overtime.

Sophomore Victoria Dunlap - who finished with a team-high 24 points - scored five of UK's first seven points in the overtime period and UK outscored UTC 15-10 in the final five-minute period.

With the win, UK will advance to the second round of the WNIT. The Wildcats will travel to Madison, Wisc., to take on the Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. The game will be carried live on the Big Blue Sports Radio Network with Neil Price.
