Elliott County Advances In Boys Sweet 16

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Junior guard Jonathan Ferguson scored 24
points, including 15 consecutive first-half points and three
straight 3-pointers, to down Anderson County 74-61 Thursday in the
Boys' Sweet Sixteen State Basketball Tournament.
Junior guard Ethan Faulkner added 20 for Elliott County (31-2)
in the final game of the first round of the tournament, held at
Rupp Arena.
The Lions kept their momentum in the second half, bolting to a
10-point lead and stifling a late Anderson County rally.
Junior forward Jacob Russell scored 20 points and added 10
rebounds for the Bearcats.
Anderson County (24-6) came as close as three in the fourth
quarter, but couldnt match Elliott Countys run-and-gun offense.
The Lions this year lead the state in scoring at 87 points per
game.
Elliott County will play Shelby Valley on Friday at 8 p.m. EDT.
