Elliott County Loses To Holmes In Boys Sweet 16

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Rural and city style basketball met in a
semifinal matchup of the state tournament's two best teams that saw
Holmes prevail over tournament darlings Elliott County 67-57
Saturday afternoon.
Junior center Elijah Pittman scored 23 points and junior guard
Ricardo Johnson added 17 to lead the Bulldogs in to the
championship game of the Boys' Sweet Sixteen State Basketball

Holmes (35-2), runners-up last season and in their third
straight semifinal appearance, shot 44 percent from the field and
out-rebounded the Lions 36 to 29.
Elliott County (32-3) jumped ahead with an early five-point
lead, but Holmes quickly cut the gap behind nine points by Johnson

had been trailing by more than three in the tournament.
The Bulldogs went on an 18-4 run, en route to a 32-24 halftime
