Former Wildcat Casey laid to rest

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Several hundred mourners gathered in
central Kentucky to say goodbye to a former Kentucky basketball
player.
The guestbook for Mike Casey's funeral held Tuesday at Shelby
County High School read like a Who's Who of Kentucky basketball.
Casey, who lived in Shelbyville, died Thursday at the age of 60.
He was the state's Mr. Basketball in 1966 and the leading scorer at
Kentucky in the 1967-68 season.
Among those attending Tuesday's service were former Wildcats
coach Joe B. Hall and former players Winston Bennett and Josh
Carrier.
Hall was an assistant coach when Casey played for the Wildcats.
He called Casey an aggressive competitor with no weaknesses and
said he would really be missed.
