Brian Kelly Returns To Take Over Fleming County

Centennial boys basketball Coach Brian Kelly resigned Thursday and will be introduced as the coach at Fleming County (Ky.) Friday.

Fleming County is where Kelly’s father, former Austin Peay Coach Lake Kelly, finished his coaching career. Lake Kelly died last month.

“My father’s passing had a lot to do with this decision,” Brian Kelly said. “It if wasn’t Fleming we wouldn’t be going.”

He will be closer to Miami (Ohio), where his son Drew will play basketball beginning next season.

Kelly was an assistant when Centennial opened in 1996 and was head coach the last 10 seasons. He led the Cougars to five region tournaments and one region semifinal.
